from what i've been told by HW themselves jaws does work with the apex.

Hi all,
I seem to have heard conflicting views as to whether the Apex can be used
as a Braille display with JAWS. Can anyone specifically say that they
have done it and whether or not it worked? At present, I only seem to
have an option of BrailleNote and this is presented as needing a serial
port; so perhaps this really isn't possible.
If it isn't, does anyone know if Humanware is actively communicating with
Freedom Scientific about the producing of the needed driver?
Thanks for any clarification on this point.
