A build is a sub-version of keysoft. If you have any version of 7.5, be it build 17, 18, 27, 29, or 31, you can skip to version 8.0 with no problem as long as you have the SMA count for it. You download the key from the same place where you check your SMA counts. Run the program you download, then use a PC to download the nk.bin file for version 8.0. Prepare your SD card in the bn like the instructions say, then use an SD card reader to move the nk.bin file from the pc to the sd card. Finally, run the upgrade. What part of the instructions from HW is lacking? I ask so that I, or someone else, can better explain this part.

Have a great day,
Alex

Subject: [Braillenote] need help updating

Hello,
my name is Sal.
I am having trouble with my braillenote qt 32 cell currently I am running keysoft 7.5 build 29. What I was wondering is can I skip automatically to version 8? or do I have to do 7.50 and then 8. I tried the instructions on the human ware site and noticed they weren't the greatest in properly explaining the process and their seems to be one instruction missing tried the podcast also but to no avail. let me get this straight for instance, when installing keysoft for either version, do I have to get two different versions of nk.bin? when I try and do the j-l and reset it beeps the five times that its supposed to but then when I hit 1 or 2 it does a low beep about four of them before that singing tone. also when I tried the jk with the reset the Braille display just goes blank after the series of beeps.
thanks for the help and look forward in hearing from you.
