A longer lag between the latest advances in technology and those advances in adaptive tech, especially when (as you said) the hardware is closed, is always a problem. However, both the Apex and BSP are great machines, offering 8gb of storage, built-in bluetooth and wifi, instant messaging, and so forth. Both lack an SDK, so the aforementioned lag is present and, at times, rather annoying. However, the smoothness and ease of use of the Braillenote, I feel, make up for it; if you require Powerpoint, a cheap PC or laptop is always a possibility; put the presentation on a thumb drive and use a coleague's computer to present the slides. I know this is not an ideal solution, but hopefully it will prove to be a temporary fix. There is no way to know what HumanWare or GWM have up their sleeves, however, so all any of us can do is speculate. Still, the Apex is (from what I hear - I use an mPower for now) an excellent machine, offering the smallest package with the best hardware of all the notetakers out there right now.

Have a great day,
Alex

Subject: [Braillenote] bn apex

I am considering moving from the pacmate to either the apex or braille sense and would value observations about moving to a closed platform. my concern is that the product might be slower to adapt to what is available via the pc market. ideally, i'd like to access powerpoint documents in the future as this is currently possible with the pacmate.

any observations welcome. thanks in advance.

Cheers

Paul
