I think that I know what is going on. This is a bug that many of us experience. It has to do with the format markers. For some reason, the bn will not let you translate a file that has underlining, bold, italic, etc. Hopefully, hw will fix this in the near future by improving word support.

Subject: [Braillenote] possible bugs in keysoft 8

Hello fellow braillenote users,
I'd like to report possible bugs in keysoft 8. I'm using a braillenote
MPower, bt 18.
When translating a document from keyword type, .kwb, to microsoft word,
.doc, the file appears to translate as normal, but when you open the
translated document, only one line of text appears. The remainder of
the document, is nowhere in sight. Another thing that happens, is when
translating a document to which you've copied from the pc to the bn,
and you try to translate the file from .rtf, or .doc, to braille, the
translation appears to go through, but when the document is opened, the
display is totally blank. I've found, that if I save the kwb file as a
plain braille file .brf, and then translate the .brf file into a
microsoft word document .doc, everything works fine. I'm able to open
the translated document normally. As to the issue with files copied
from the pc to the braillenote, the only solution I've found that will
work, is recopying the file from the pc a second time, and then
translating it again. Hope this makes sense.
Mike
Rochester, NY.
