The Apex has an alarm, and headphones do nothing to silence it. Just hit enter-n to see your next appointment. This will tell you the time of the next alarm, even if your appointment does not have an alarm set on it. For example, you may see "Your next appointment is dentist appointment, on April 12, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. No alarm is set. The next alarm is scheduled to ring tomorrow at 6:30 A.M." If you see an alarm set, just go to the planner and modify the appointment to have no alarm. I wish there was a way to disable all alarms, then have a message spoken onstartup letting you know that alarms are off, but manually disabling them, or maybe setting the alarm volume very low, is the best you can do for now.
