I believe, if the song is under copyright and you download it for free when 
neither you nor the providing website has permission to do so, it is 
technically illegal. A website providing songs, though, should have a page 
about legal terms and conditions; I would consult that and/or contact the 
site owner(s) for the final word.

Thank you for that web site. Also, have you wondered if
downloading mp3 files for free off the internet is a violation?
Or is that even illegal? I am concerned with this, as I
