Good thing the reconnecting worked.
As for doing this procedure, I'm not sure if it is fixed on the
next upgrade (sorry no info on that).  My theory is that it might
be due to hardware not being initialized (not started right after
the power was on).
Also, according to my tests, you can in fact leave WiFi on when
you power off your Apex.

My question is every time I turn off my machine will I have to

Try:
1.  When the Apex is back on, go to Options/Connectivity/Wireless
Ethernet.
2.  At the prompt, press y to access Wireless Ethernet Menu.
3.  Press r for "Reconnect." That should solve it (if that still
works).
If that doesn't work, try Alex's suggestion.
I'll investigate the radio problem then...

I use wifi, my wireless router is smc g.  My radio is radio look
up dot com and I use Bill Sparks.  I tried your suggestion of
waiting ten seconds and it still turned up error 10050.

Can you tell us which connection method - Ethernet, USB,
Bluetooth, WiFi, etc.  - you are using to connect to the
Interodt? Also, can you tell us which website you're using to
reproduce this radio problem?
The issue with "error 10050" is that the Apex was not connected
to the Internet immediately after it was turned on.  As you've
said (and this is confirmed according to my tests), wait about
ten seconds (after power is on) before connecting to the Internet
(especially for email).  Also, the wait time depends on the
connection method involved - if you are using WiFi in
particulary, you'll need to wait about ten seconds; for Ethernet,
it would be about five seconds.

Hi folksea
I have a question about my apex and was wondering if anyone could
shed some light on this.  When I received my apex I reinstalled
my directery of accounts and connectivity from scratch.  I did
not copy from my m power so my information is not corrupted.
Whenever I turn my machine off and turn it on again, I go to
email.  I immediately get error 50.  When I reset the machine I
have no trouble getting to my e-mail.  If the machine stays on I
can go back and forth from leaving the internet to returning
with no problem.  When I play the radio the only way I can turn
it off is to reset.  I am talking about playing the radio through
internet.  When I turn the machine on again, I can go right to
the e-mail or internet because the last transaction was reseting
the machine.  If I have not played the radio, turn it off through
the night, try to go to e-mail the next day get error 50 I called
humanware and got two separate comments.  One person said they
never heard of this.  Another person said they heard of this and
it will be fixed in the upgrade.  Any thoughts folks.  I do hope
it is an upgrade problem.
