Hi BrailleNote users, HumanWare Staff and others:
This is Joseph S. Lee, the administrator of the BrailleNote
PBWorks website. Thanks for so many feedbacks about the site,
namely improvements, websites and some spelling errors that I've
made (which were corrected). I'm here to announce a new project
in connection with the PBWorks site:
As I've stated earlier, I'm in the planning stages of a new,
revolutionary version of the BrailleNote PBWorks site. Due to be
released in summer 2010, this version will add a new way of
viewing relevant Support articles, audio on new BrailleNote Chat
and others. Also, starting with this version, the perspective of
the articles will shift from mPower to the Apex, bring your
suggestions alive (more of them) and make the site more readable
and understandable to many BrailleNote users.
Tentative feature sets include:
* Starting with this version, the article base will shift to the
Apex. As always, other models, such as mPower and Classic will
still be honored.
* Support Hotline: A new way of viewing Support articles based on
your BrailleNote model. Called "Device View," it's a collection
of article links and pointers to relevant sections of an article
based on your BN model - Classic, PK, mPower and Apex.
* Command Summary Table: A detailed list of BT and QT commands
with notes for some of the notable commands on the BrailleNote
(with help from users, HW staff and others). For ease of
viewing, it is planned as a table.
* Support Hotline restructuring: An extensive modifications to
Support Hotline. This includes merging few articles into a
single entity, rewriting of some articles to fit Apex
specifications and updated hardware compatibility list. Due to
the amount of information in that section, it may take more than
one PBWorks version to finish this.
* Demolition of a section: The Apex Corner will be gone; the
content of this section will be merged into appropriate sections
of the website.
In order for me to make this website more understandable, I need
your feedback and suggestions to how I should write articles and
suggestions for more of them. Particularly, I need help with
Support Hotline restructuring and Device View, as I need to
construct multiple scenarios for different models (Classic users,
are you still out there?). Thus, I need a few people who can
write articles and instructions, as well as helping me make
"smart" decisions as to which articles to merge and move around.
Also, the Seventh BrailleNote Chat is planned for summer as well
- so stay tuned. Due to multiple ways of connecting to the chat,
I still intent on using multiple chat methods at the same time -
KeyChat, Skype, BCT Chat Room, etc. The focus (at the moment) is
all about Apex and more dialogue between us (users) and
HumanWare.
Due to my finals and summer school commitments, I would not have
enough time to go through all of the feature sets at once; but
when the needs arise and time is availible, I plan to work on
this version (more details will be announced as the project
continues). As always, I value your suggestions and really need
your input (if you have some), and thanks always for your support
on the PBWorks site (the URL is braillenote.pbworks.com.) Hope to
see you soon...
Sincerely,
Joseph S. Lee

P.S. File Input/Output is fun...
