First, downgrading is possible. Just download the bin file and run the usual upgrade procedure; you should not require an upgrade key.
Second, I am not sure ks8 is doing this. It will warn you about low memory, but that is just a message about a problem just as present in 7.5. I think the Bookshare website upgrade, which Bookshare did last year, is causing the problems, not the version of keysoft. In fact, a new version of keysoft, 7.5.31, was required before the bn would even support the Bookshare site.
