I do not think the strategy does not work; rather, I think it could be
very much improved by the writer of the teasers taking two minutes to
write a detailed description of just what is visible in the image, and
clearly labeling this text as a description of the image. If I
remember right, we were able to get some good details from an Apex
teaser, but it took a list member to provide us with the description,
not hw at all. Speculation is great, and I realize that it is what hw
probably wants, but the whole idea of sending graphical teasers to
blind people and then not describing the pictures in detail is
nonsensical and frustrating. Taken a step further, it could even be
said that it is against hw's goal, that of independence for its blind
customers; it is not too independent to have to find a sighted person
to describe an image because hw, the very company that is supposed to
be making us all independent, could not take the time to provide a
description.

I will say, however, that I was quite impressed with the quick
response from HW this morning when I emailed a similar complaint to
them. It is not that I do not like the company, I just do not
understand the lack of descriptions of images when the company knows
that the ones reading the messages with said images will not be able
to see the images. Okay, rant over, for now.
