Basically, it depends on the unit; basic differences in manufacturing,
while too small to make a difference to the user, may or may not block
water. Basically, keep it away from all water and dust as much as
humanly possible. The voiceNotes are a bit tougher because they do not
have a braille display to worry about, but it is like a laptop; some
people spill their coffee on their computer and nothing happens,
others do the same and have to replace the computer.
