Yes I have the apex QT 32! Aside from keys not always working the first time I pressed them I haven't had any issues thus far. I don't have any problems with down loading email. I know people talked about it before but what again is the reason for support information mode? The only thing I have been able to check has been the memory with function o and read with i twice. Oh and does anyone know what happens if you do a jkl reset on the apex if you have the dictionary, nemeth code tutorial and the gps keys? If I need to do this at some point I don't want to lose my authorizations.

Subject: [Braillenote] Few miscellaneous things...

Hi folks,
Well, congradulations to Malaina and Carol for getting their Apex - especially to Malaina for getting the QT version (is it 32-cell?). Thought I should write quite a few observations and notes - mostly due to low list
traffic:
* As for my Apex, it's at home, but I need to send it back to the closest dealer (and, eventually back to HW) to see if there is a possibility of a
repair over there.
* As for Bluetooth, Robert's works and Alex's observations tells us quite a few things: Even though the company does not say anything publically here, the users' responses and active research by some people deserve some merit. I personally agree that more company presence could have enhanced the image and communication efforts by the company; however, I'd like to point out that most of the "hacks" and problem fixes comes from users' research, thus telling me that users are the driving force behind the livelihood of this list. In connection with Bluetooth discussion, I'd like to point out that the presence of this feature (at least in words) is a right step forward in
implementing it in the future.
* Quite a few misconceptions I believe need to be addressed before continuing on with other things: KeySoft 9.0x is essentially KeySoft 8.0 on a new operating system layer. In other words, we are dealing with an mPower that looks like an Apex. The "hidden things" that people are starting to discover now could set the stage for true product differentiation between and mPower and the Apex in the near future. I expect the next version of KeySoft to point out the differentiation more clearly. Also, just because a product is new and looks more techier does not mean all the bugs from previous software is gone - fixing those require time and effort, as many people said. This is the chief reason why HW cannot really "guarantee" release time. But with the hopes that the new framework is here in fixng bugs faster, I expect the company to deliver on time updates - unless a
serious flaw is discovered right before the firmware is launched.
* As for user and company communication: I see trends that suggests the response from HW are slow at times; that is expected, which is a normal thing for this time of year. Despite this "lack of response," we have "researchers" who are willing to investigate things that a company rep would do, such as testing new hardware and software and even going so far as offer assistance over Skype. My opinion, then is this: Don't bive up your confidence - if the company does not respond to you, perhaps do believe in users' posts because I'm sure at least one company rep is writing our concerns and at least one user is researching your problem (for you and
others).
For those who have XP machines: I got a small request/favor for you - and that's up next. Sorry if my wording may seem harsh - if that's the case, I'd
like to apologize.
Cheers,
Joseph
