Hi folks,
Just a few clarifications on Checkbook project:
* The current version that we (the programmers) are working on is just the
emulated version. In other words, a version that'll run on your computer
that emulates running this program on a BrailleNote via interface similar to
KeySoft.
* The ultimate goal of this project is to port this program over to KeySoft
environment - so that those who has a BrailleNote can run this program. But
this will not be achieved until HumanWare releases KeySoft SDK.
* The interface that you'll eventually see on this program will resemble
that of KeyBase (Database manager) and Address List )KeyList). All we have
to change is input and output code, getting correct file and file type and
tying the program code to KeySoft.
* As always, we need your input as to features you want to see in this
program. We the users who are programmers or students are currently reading
the Checkbook and EZ Money documentation and are formulating data and
operations of this program - with assistance from C language source code
provided by Dan Greene, the developer of EZ Money. I expect the full feature
set of this program will not show up until later when we use it on a
BrailleNote.
* I think some of you may be wondering about this: My thinking is to allow
interoperability of this program with KeyBase definition files and KeyList
database formats - so that whatever you write in this program can be
exported to .kbs and .klt, but also would be exported to CSV (Comma
Separated Values) and .xls (Excel file, if possible).
* My thinking is that parts of this program would derive its operation from
APH's Money Talks with help from APH engineers.
That's all. Because most of our "engineers" are students, we'll not be able
to concentrate too much on this project (because of start of school year is
near); but we'll do some updates as we go along. Thanks.
Cheers,
Joseph P.S. Alex, I guess you might want to inform the GWN list...
