Hello there Carol. Hope you'll allow me to introduce myself. My
name is Jack Zimmerman. I have seen your posts on the braille
note list of which I'm also a member. I'm writing because you
wanted to speak with someone who also used the Deaf blind
communicator?? I have one with the braille note BT 32 cell.
Really love the Braille note. In fact I'm using it now to write
you. Not so favorably impressed with the DBC however. This is
just a cell phone they've installed modified software on then
charged an arm and a leg for. Though It was purchased for me by
Texas home health, yep I'm a Texan, it still cost almost nine
thousand dollars. I'm ever so grateful as otherwise there's no
way I'd have been able to afford it otherwise. You'd asked about
face to face. Well Sighted folks seem to have a lot of trouble
using this tiny little phone. So I just usually plug in a USB
keyboard and let them type to me on it. Did you get one with
your DBC?? I did. It seems to work very well in that manner.
But as I say the phone itself is basically useless to me at the
moment. I can't afford any sort of cell phone plan and I'm not
even sure which phone I have. Though I know it's an HTC. They
recently changed the phones they were using and can't even tell
me which one I have. LOL! I don't even see anything about SMS
messaging in the menu which supposedly you should be able to do.
I'm not signed up with gmail or we could chat. I'll need to have
sighty help with that since I believe they use Captcha. Don't
really have a desktop so I'll need to do that. I also have a
pacmate and a couple of braille lite forties. If you'd like to
write me back I think that we be GREAT. Hoping this finds you
well.
I am
Cordially
Jack Zimmerman
