Hi,
I've seen socket error 10060 when trying to send or receive e-mail over a wi-fi connection. I haven't seen it over a hard-wired ethernet connection, but that's not saying that it can't happen. It's good that the BrailleNote tells you about this and gives you the error code so that you have some idea of what's up, or not, as the case may be. Essentially, error 10060 is a common socket error that typically occurs when a connection times out. Let's say that you're operating over a wi-fi connection, trying to get your e-mail. You start up keymail, tell the BN which connection configuration to use and which account, then mail download begins. Somewhere along the way, the BN sends a data packet to the pop or smtp server, and the server takes too long to send a response back to your BN. This is the classic socket error 10060.

Mail clients on PC's can experience this socket error, too, and in the advanced settings for mail accounts in Outlook or Outlook Express, for example, you can tweak the server time-out values so that the mail program will wait longer than normal before deciding that the connection has timed out and an error occurred. Unfortunately, I don't think that you have that recourse with Keymail. There may not be a whole lot you can do except re-initiate the e-mail session or, worst case, re-establish your wireless connection in hopes that the connection becomes more stable. Whether or not a reset is required is open to question.

Does this help?

Tom
