Unfortunately, to my knowledge, you can't do Skype on an Apex. The only way that could happen is if Humanware adds support for Skype, as Keysoft is a closed system. However, if your niece uses Google Chat, you could use Chat on the Apex. I don't know how to do that; I haven't delved into the Chat application yet, but at first glance it appears to be fairly simple to set up and use.
