I gather Humanware are aware of bugs in the "Find and Replace" with the
Apex, but I suggest you submit this anyway. Sorry not to be more helpful to
you right now.
In addition, I would add that I had a problem when searching for a string in
a reply to email. The search just wouldn't include the original message,
unless I positioned the cursor into that original message, below my reply.
OK, I found a workaround but it was a bit of a nuisance.

Working in a file which an old version of Quicken
exported to a tab-delimited file. File reads fine; in editing mode I
can see the line break markers and the tab markers. Using space with
f, I can find the following strings:
line break then two spaces then tab then number sign;
same minus the number sign;
two spaces then tab with or without number sign;
tab by itself.
But in all instances, attempting a replace operation
using any of the above strings the unit hangs: the "replace all of first?"
prompt remains on the display indefinitely or until pressing the
reset button. When reset button is pressed, as cells start to
come up, that prompt stays on the display even when dots are
rising within the cells making up the prompt.
Further, The "find" in find and replace does find a line
break followed by two spaces, and when I choose to replace only
the first occurrence with a line break alone (that is, no following
spaces), the process seems to work fine, and the tab character is
removed even though it was not in the find string. But when I try the
same operation -- replacing a line break and two spaces with
just a line break, no entry of tab character, -- and choose all
occurrences rather than just the first one, the unit hangs. That is,
space with E, space with Z and all other key combos I've tried so
far have no effect: only pushing the reset button removes the
"replace all or first?" prompt and gives me back control over the unit.
During all above tests, unit was plugged in. There was a
SD card in its slot; but the file which I tried to modify was on the
flash disk.
I can find all the tabs in the file and replace each with
a space, working one at a time. But I'd prefer not to devote the
entire weekend to this one project. <smile>
All thoughts welcome.
