Well, I wasn't going to discuss this here, seeing as no one else has brought it
up; but, in the end, I just couldn't let the fact that HumanWare have stopped
making the BrailleNote PK go by without saying a thing. Now, before I go
further, as Mike May mentioned over on the gps-talkusers list, the PK is still
very much being supported, thus folks already having the unit don't have to
worry about it being maintained.

At any rate, although the PK and I have pretty much come to the end of the
line, so to speak, it was practically my constant companion for the better part
of four years. For, its compact size, along with its eighteen cell Braille
display, not to mention the Sendero GPS option, made the perfect traveling
device for me in almost every situation. The unit could easily be tucked out
of the way when not needed, I could have the convenience of speech when I chose
to use it, or I could opt for the more quiet and discrete use of the Braille
when the situation warranted.

Although I could never seem to trust its flash disk to stay available as it
should, the PK was a very wonderful device when it worked correctly. It was
the first device of its kind that I can recall, and I never did regret making
the purchase.
