That would be great if there was text with the audio in RFB&DO
books, but I've never seen it, and neither has of my sighted TVI.
Also, it would even be nice if bookshare added audcco to their
books. If for can add images, they could probably add Audio too.

Glad to hear this-in the past it was an image file from what I
recall.

Actually, I do believe the RFB&D audio+ books contain both audio
and
corresponding text.

Yes, I definitely know what you mean. Ever tried to have a
foreign
language textbook as audio only? You have no clue how to spell
anything, where accents go, or any of that... This is why I go
with
Bookshare; if I want braille, it is there, but if I want speech,
I
just tell the bn to start reading aloud.
On a side note, it should be possible for you to get textbooks
from
the publisher as MS Word or pdf files which you can then
translate
into readable files for the bn. My college is able to do this
for most
of my textbooks; excepting math, I have not had a braille
textbook
since my junior year of high school.

Wow! I've never thought of having Braille and audio, but that
would be
awesome! I prefer Braille as well, so a recorded book leaves me
with
nothing to actually see in braille. If that were the case, I
could
pass my college classes a whole lot better!

You and me both, especially for textbooks. However, I doubt
this will
happen. RFB is into audio books, mainly because someone just
has to
read the book into a microphone; there is no scanning,
correcting, and
everything else that goes into a book's text being digitized.
While I
would love to see it happen, I do not think it will because of
the
extra work and overhead. That said, I could be completely
wrong; the
above are just my opinions and assumptions.

Hi,
I have a question about RFB&D books. I obtained a UAK for my BN
MPower
so
I
could play RFBD books on the BrailleNote. I've downloaded
several and
played
them on my Victor Stream, then used that same SD card in my BN
MPower
and
listened to them using the Book Reader function. While doing so
I
couldn't
help but notice that there wasn't any useful text appearing in
Braille,
which didn't surprise me, but I have to admit to being somewhat
disappointed. This may be a silly question, but has RFB&D given
any
thought
to making their books full DAISY, with textual content as well
as
audio?
Braille's my preferred reading medium and I would love to be
able to
read
those books in Braille on my Apex.
