Welcome to the list! Personally, I would consider the Apex to be worse than the iPhone. However, I have only used an iPad, not an iPhone, and the iPhone's speed depends, in part, on current cell coverage so it is hard to say for sure. However, the Apex's software currently has some pretty serious bugs (though not specifically in web browsing) that make me hesitant to recommend it. I am excited to see where the Apex goes in future, but I am not sure I can say that I would recommend it over the competition (such as GW Micro's Braille Sense Plus) for now. Note that I am not a user of GWM's products so I could be unaware of serious bugs on that system, but I do not think there is anything like what you find on the Apex. That said, the Apex's software is newer and has a lot more potential than any other braille notetaker out there, not to mention it can act as a braille display for an iTouch device. For the moment, though, the firmware is not taking advantage of all the potential. If you ask this in a year I am sure my answer will be different, but for the moment I would not recommend the Apex over a multi-tasking device like an iPhone or Braille Sense Plus. Please feel free to ask more specific questions; it may happen that the bugs and shortcomings of the Apex would not affect your use of the device at all, or they could prove to be a big problem for you. It is hard to say one way or the other.
