Hi, all. Well, after looking at all the recent posts, apparently showing some strong feelings on Timothy's suggestion for a total transformation of the KS operating system, I finally decided to open up my big mouth. I am totally blind and use a laptop operating with Windows 7, the latest Windows software. I use JAWS on it as a screen reader. I'm actually using it to post comments to the list rather than my Braille-Note. In fact, I only use my BN so far for its Wordprocessor, Planner, and some other features, not for Web browsing or emailing. I use JAWS for that. You see, I think it's easier on the computer for emailing and surfing the Web because although it is a feature on the BN, the PC is already designed to do stuff like that. All JAWS is is a software that reads the screen so I can function on the computer like a sighted person. So, sure, I think there could be some improvement to KS, i.e. the alert tone for new email, but I disaggree with Timothy that there should be a total transformation so it is basicly a Braille PC. Oh yeah, that's how Freedom Scientific describes the Pac-Mate. So, I would say use KS for what it's designed to do, and use a computer for what it's designed to do. If we have a total transformation of KS to be like Windows, we would lose some of the simplicity that KS offers in its Wordprocessor, and we would probably lose the Planner altogether, which I have found to be very usefull. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Windows has a planner like KS does, and I don't think it has an address list either, except for the contacts on email. That's my two cents. What do you guys think? Happy New Year!
