Problems occur because of two main factors:
1. The database gets corrupted. This tends to happen when there is a
very large amount of email in there, but it can happen with small
amounts of email. I have not yet found a definite reason for a
database corruption in keymail, and the discovery (or lack thereof) is
not helped by the fact that keymail is the only database I have ever
seen go bad. The bn uses databases everywhere: email, keybase,
keylist, connection configurations, file history, internet history,
email accounts, and not one of them has ever been corrupted on my bn,
whether classic, mPower, or apex, except keymail.
2. A bad flash disk: sometimes, the flash disk itself can have parts
of it that cannot be read from or written to, known as bad sectors.
The only way to fix this is to replace the entire flash disk, only
done by hw. This is rare and, in my case, did not help; after doing
many email folders.cdb replacements, and then having my flash disk
changed out, keymail still kept failing to work. This is why I finally
stopped using it and switched to gMail, whose mobile website is very
accessible and even lets you preview attachments online which the bn
cannot open, such as docx or pdf files.
