Hi,
Sorry if you are getting this twice...
The reason for Apex being buggy was mostly due to the fact that
HW did not utilize availible resources. The mentioning of WPA2
suggests that HW is now utilizing availible hardware resources
and OS services. IP V6 requires some driver update and a OS
plug-in (in my thinking).
As for assessment of the product, let's do it on February when
the actual thing is here...
Cheers,
Joseph

2011)
Excellent summary. Thanks much. I might listen to the original
anyway (link please, someone), just for kicks. However, my
overall assessment so far is that I'm glad it's free, since I
don't think it was nearly as earth-shattering as I'd hoped it
would be. KeyChat, in particular, remains the biggest letdown in
history. Also, no mention of the security problem in 9.01, or
IPv6, which is now quite important and which I made a long
request to HumanWare for. I also don't intend to depend on a
feature which allows nobody except HumanWare access to my data if
I choose to apply a password to it, and wouldn't trust it even if
it worked, because there is obviously no encryption.
In thinking on, I am reminded, once upon a time, of a fine
notetaker I owned called the BrailleNote Classic. Sturdy,
reliable, companionable, this device had its problems, and its
limitations, but at least it actually worked through all the
upgrades, all the good times, all the bad ones. It was polish
from start to finish, a great product to use. Without wishing to
go into excruciating detail, I actually think the quality control
has slipped, and is being made up for. Nobody can deny that Apex
was the buggiest release in history.
Cheers,
Sabahattin
