Actually, it's the other way around for now - the only people who
knows the ins and outs of Apex is HW staff who've designed its
software and hardware. What we (the user programmers) are doing
is figuring out (using sophisticated ways) how Apex actually
works. At this moment, we are just students - thus, we don't
have final say or cannot really give HW programmers suggestions
on how they should code the Apex - all we could do is just
provide suggestions, detailed analysis of errors and so forth.
Now, if we do work for HW (at least in tech support), then we
might get a chance at working with Apex design.
Apex is a complex design that not only requires skill, but also
crucial decision-making strategies - mostly because of its
interface, the nature of embedded systems and large amount of
code involved. Fixing or adding suggestions could mean
introduction of bugs in other areas (as my own small sorter
programs show); often, these "bugs" are not really related to
errors that BrailleNote presents - it could be some other thing
that could cause the bug to appear, which could be totally
unrelated to the feature we are analyzing. For instance, the
"find and replace" bug could be not related to the interface or
accuracy of this feature - rather, it could be related to how
KeyWord treats word units and not catching test cases.
in summary, all we (the users) can do is offer suggestions and
provide detailed information to help HW developers fix the very
bug or a related one that's causing the errors. At this stage of
life (for students), we are not really in a position to spend
hours tackling KeySoft code - we are not ready yet.

A few comments:
1. This release is for the Apex only; no other member of the bn
family
is getting this upgrade. There was no mention of a timetable for
ks9.1
for everyone else or of what features it will have. I can almost
promise that it will not include WPA2 support, though, as this is
specific to CE6. Only time will tell on that one.
2. EPub books are books in a new format supported by devices
like the
iTouch line (through iBooks), the Kindle and other eBook readers,
and
some desktop and laptop programs. Google and a few other places
offer
these books, though we do not know if protected books will be
supported. That is, we do not know if you can play Amazon ePub
books,
or other books that you pay for, on the Apex or not.
3. I agree that keymail and keychat are long overdue for some
major
updates, and I would much rather have seen these programs fixed
and
updated than have new book formats, but what do I know?
