Hi folks,
Quite a confusion - I understand. Za newcomer to 9.1 myself, I'm
surprised that there is no support for docx files. However, with
the foundation in mind, I'm sure HW will port this feature later.
Few clarifications:
* I was able to download and install the product key and the
upgrade itself. Because USB thumb drive gave me checksum error
during ROM image validation, I had to use the SD card. Upgrade
was successful (and am now typing this email from 9.1.1031).
* Version number: The previous version was named 9.0.2, sometimes
called 9.02. 9.1 is a major release.
* For Sabahattin: There is a special partition on the Flash just
for storing licenses. It is 32 MB in size and holds all licenses
for KeySoft and optional programs. Since the licenses (merely a
renamed xml file) is stored on nonvolatile memory, it will not be
affected by deletion of Flash data.
* License site: I was able to obtain the product key for KeySoft
9.1 fine - when using my serial number and an email. When asked
to enter the password, type:
650320nnnnnn
Where "n" is the serial number. For instance, if your serial
number was 555555, you would write:
650320555555
As for email address, type the email address you've registered
your product with - try using the address you are subscribed to.
I'm using a different email address from the one I used to
subscribe to this list.
If the log in was successful, you should be presented with a
series of radio buttons - a list of product keys for KeySoft and
other programs. Click one of the radio buttons then go to Go
button, and hopefully you should be presented with a download
page with a link to download the hwl file.
I'll indeed contact HW tech support about this problem on Friday
morning here in Pacific Standard Time.
* For John: The connection method has changed. To reconnect to
existing connection, try using the first item from the
Connectivity Menu (hotkey is U; found this out after entering
some letters at the connectivity menu). For sending and
receiving email, once the connection has been established, just
go to KeyMail menu, then select "Send and receive email" (S).
Without prompting for connection name, it should ask for email
accounts (if you have one, it'll just connect to that account).
If you have trouble with connecting to your network, try removing
the record, scan for new networks, find yours and add it. Or,
try restoring flash disk files (Support Information Mode,
BACKSPACE with R).
* Alex's points: Yes, I can confirm what Alex said - some sort of
a number that increases when the restart happens. On my case,
the braille display clears as soon as it hits 74%.
* File and folder compression: If you zip a group of files, file
manager will not report how many files were zipped. This is
because it uses another program called apexzip.exe to perform
this operation (don't ask me how I got this info; someone gave me
a hint for accessing hidden folders). But I'd like to suggest
perhaps outputting number of files zipped after zipping is done.
That's all.
Cheers,
Joseph
