Dear BrailleNote List members, HumanWare staff and others:

I'm delighted to announce the launch of BrailleNote PBWorks version 7.4! This is the promised PBWorks version for integrating KeySoft 9.1 features and experiences. Due to the extent of the feature set, some content were rewritten to accomodate changed procedure. To find out, go to http://braillenote.pbworks.com. Special thanks goes to Alex H for content suggestions and for writing some of the new text on the site.

What's new in BrailleNote PBWorks version 7.4:
* Two new articles based on KeySoft 9.1 features are now availible under Support Hotline: A. Securing a BrailleNote with a password (under Other Issues): A short tutorial on setting up a password to lock an Apex from unauthorized use. B. Zipping files and folders (under Storage Management): A step-by-step article on compressing a file, a group of files or a single folder as zip archive. * Front Page: To help you locate the above two articles faster, these are located under Featured Items section.

In addition, existing Support Hotline contents were modified to incorporate 9.1 features, including: * Setting up for Internet connection: The new wireless connection interface has been added, as well as words on protocol selection is now included. In addition, problems with navigating setup list has been corrected - it now uses nested lists for some items. * Technical specifications for BrailleNote models: Notes on formatting an SD card on the mPower and availible wireless security protocols has been added. * Connectivity Dictionary: The terms "WPA2," "TKIP" and "AES" has been added. * FAQ's on Word Processing and Reading: Several things added, including how to select text for copying or cutting, supported book formats in Book Reader and writing text in foreign languages. * Unzipping a .zip file: A section on unzipping a zip archive under KeySoft 9.1 has been added. In addition, the introduction to the article has been rewritten to provide better wording and scenario. * Difference between Windows CE, Windows Mobile and KeySoft: The article was updated to reflect current trends - introduction of Windows Phone 7, Windows CE 7 and KeySoft 9.1. * Backup or restore files: Excessive formatting was removed and file copy command was added. * Command Summary: The shortcut command for zipping file and folder has been added, as well as added tables support for reading a document (table navigation is supported on Microsoft Word Documents formatted as such and on webpages with tables). * Upgrading KeySoft: The upgrade procedure for Apex was edited to include notes on downloading and installing the license. The Support Hotline articles (Categories, Date and Device view) is current as of February 2011. * News Center: An announcement on KeySoft 9.1 release, as well as the actual site where you can read about it has been added.

In addition: I'm planning a major rewrite of the whole site interface to be released late summer of this year. Codenamed "Central," the upcoming PBWorks version will feature a sitemap - where you'll find all articles, recordings and favorite links on one page. In addition, all pages will feature a "navigation menu" where you can jump to other sections of the website more quickly without having to go through Front Page. Lastly, as a favor: I'm looking for a cheap hosting service where I can host the PBWorks content - it has been found that PBWorks editor adds unwanted code and the website navigation may become slow, thus I've decided to host the content somewhere else after Central version is published. Just a note for PK users: The upcoming "Central" version of the site will be the last version to support content for PK - existing content for it will not be removed - unless HW says something otherwise.

As always, the site address is braillenote.pbworks.com. If you have any comments, feel free to contact me. Thanks.

Sincerely,
Joseph S. Lee
