To set up a password, go to utilities and press e (security). Space down to "enable password protection" and hit y for yes. Enter your password, hit enter, enter it again, and hit enter again. Finally, you will be asked to "confirm changes", to which you can answer yes, or no if you suddenly decide to not apply the password. To remove protection, just go back to the security menu and press n at the original password prompt.
