Hi,
The best eBook formats would be those from Audible (for now) and,
for braille display devices, Bookshare. For integration with
mainstream society, I recommend Audible.
As for reader devices, I expect the future competition to be not
on hardware, but on software, as more and more eBook reading
functionality is (and will be) offered on cell phones, tablets
and others. As of now, Kindle and others are just a specialized
software driving a modified (rather, adopted) hardware optimized
for reading books, sort of like Victor Reader Stream. Even in
blindness PDA arena, we are now dealing with not physical
buttons, but how a given software processes books in recognizable
format, with the best example being Victor Reader Pocket engine
for Apex and others.

Hello good people,
As e-books are coming on strong, I have a question. Are e-books
being read by large numbers of blind people today? And more
importantly, what e-book reading device is likely to be the wave
of the near-term and long-term future? Will it be Kindle, or
something that Humanware will perhaps devise? For price
purposes, I ho'pe the former rather than the latter. (Ha!)
