I mentioned in a previous post that all file types, except ASCII text have
the problem you mentioned. That includes .brf and kwb files.
I called Tech Support and reported the bug to them. Gabe, the man I spoke
with, wrote a description of the problem with the search and replace.
Apparently, no one has called HW and reported it except me because he said
he thought the bug had been fixed and he said he hadn't heard any previous
reports.
I would suggest that others call HW and discuss this bug. I think it's a bt
user's turn to do this, since they've heard from a qwerty user, (grin).
I hope reporting this bug will encourage HW to fix it once and for all.

Hello to all, I am indeed pleased that there are those who wish to
replicate the fault with the "find-and-replace" facility as offered by
the Apex. I have been asked to explain how to demonstrate this fault; I
thought I had done so in some detail. So, please forgive me for
reprinting a a section of my earlier email. Yes, when I talk of Braille
files I do mean kwb files, since these are the normal Braille files used
on both the Mpower and the Apex.
(repeat) I am a Braillist, I work in Braille on a Braille keyboard and I
keep my work as Braille files. One of the ways I am able to read books is
to scan them and read them as grade 2 Braille documents. One of the
common errors one finds with scanning is that quite often both open and
close quotation signs appear throughout a book as apostrophes. Now, on
the Mpower it was a simple matter taking less than a minute, to change
these erroneous signs to the correct Braille ones; even on a large book.
Thus let's suppose one has a document in which the name Peter appears many
times, if you should wish to change this to Richard, one can now achieve
this on the Apex; but one cannot correct faulty punctuation signs. Just
to check things out, I translated a lengthy Braille document into an ascii
text file; the "find and replace" facility now worked as it should both
for words and punctuation, but let me stress, it doesn't work for a
Braille document. It's surely a little ironic when one takes into account
that this is basically a unit designed for blind people. (end of repeat)
Finally, I am concerned, not with the changing of a single punctuation
mark, but the correction of a large number within a document.
