Subject: Re: [Braillenote] summary of HIMS SenseNote announcement

I have to say, that this has some of the features we've been asking
for for quite a while. Mr. Alex, since I assume the Braille Sense has
a microphone, I assume voice chat would work through that. Thoughts?
PDFs: We've been asking for this for a while, come on hw, Where are
you on this? Chat file sharing, sounds great! Like I said, come on,
hw, if you don't want to fall behind competition wise, you're going to
have to implement some or all of this stuff in the next update or
something.

Below I have pasted my summary of the HIMS announcement of
firmware 6. I post it here to show just what it can do, on ce5,
that the Apex, on ce6, simply does not.

The upgrade should be available by the end of March or early
April. It will be for all Sense products, except, it seems, the
original. As usual, this is a free upgrade. FYI, interested
developers may contact HIMS to obtain more information, but it
sounds like it is possible.

FEATURES:
Google Talk and Twitter under the Social Networking menu.

Twitter login credentials are saved, though you may opt out of
that and have to enter them manually. The demonstrator hit
enter-r to refresh his timeline (no word on if this is
automatic). The update took two or three seconds for 1 new
tweet. Okay, he said timelines will auto-update. You can also
follow, get followers, timelines, replies, all that. Everything
has hotkeys. Tweet in grade 2 if you want. Of course, tweets
show in grade 2.

GoogleTalk: the usual instant messaging will work, but you can
also share files and do voice chats (not demoed)! Sign in was
automatic. IM-ing was immediate, and used the msn sounds. File
sharing: from the actions menu, you can see any pending requests.
Accept one, hit f1, and go into the "downloads" folder to find
it. There was no confirmation of receipt, so knowing when the
file is there may be a guessing game.  Sending a file is as easy;
actions > send file from within a conversation. Percentage is
given for transmition, so it may be easier to see a successful
send than receipt. Google was chosen partially because of its
availability; licensing was better than other companies.

Extras, for Voice Sense and BSP: Bible (5 English translations)
and games. The Bible data cannot be removed at this point, which
is why it ended up in the extras menu.

Games: dice, "brain games", memory, reverse memory, "chase a
criminal", multiplication tables. These are really for younger
people.

PDF and EPub support (unprotected only) in the wordprocessor.
Edited docs will save as text files.

Network access for file sharing across a local network.
