I have replied below to each question at a time. On 4/5/11, Richard Fiorello <[email protected]> wrote: > Hello; > Does some type of chat program come with this unit? Yes, keychat. It supports only standard xmpp networks, such as Google Talk or Jabber. No AIM, MSN, Facebook, Yahoo, or other popular networks. You can have multiple accounts, but you have to change the username, password, and other information each time you want to switch; there is no support for easily switching between accounts or having multiple accounts signed on at once. > Is it audio chat or txt? It is text only. No voice, no file transfer, no status messages. > Also, can you import and install programs from other sources? > Probably not but just a thought. No, only the ones provided by Humanware or other partners, like Sendero Group. > Finally in English what exactly is key soft? CE is like a core operating system, providing low-level things like power management, talking to wireless and bluetooth devices, and so on. It powers many pda and smartphone devices even today. Keysoft runs on top of CE, providing the functions we see (the applications, braille input and output, speech, and so on). This is why only Humanware's programs will run on keysoft; it has no idea what to do with any other programs not designed to work with it. > Also, for those who have not updated to the apex, is the older version of the > braille note > still supported? I assume you mean the mPower? Yes, it is slated for two more keysoft upgrades before it will no longer be updated, and service (cleaning, repairs, and the like) should continue for some time after that. The classic is no longer supported, however, and I am not sure about the Pk. > Thanks > > -- > richard > > ___ > Replies to this message will go directly to the sender. > If your reply would be useful to the list, please send a > copy to the list as well. > > To leave the BrailleNote list, send a blank message to > [email protected] > To view the list archives or change your preferences, visit > http://list.humanware.com/mailman/listinfo/braillenote > >
