Oh, one can go through the menus, or one can press the help key to get directions on what to do; its just that the shortcut keys tend to speed things up a bit, once one has become familiar with the note taker. By the way, did you ever find the manual for the Apex? If not, and I'll give the link for the page with the manuals for the Apex in a moment; but, one can get to that page by going to the Humanware site, then entering on the support link, then entering on the Braillenote Apex link and then entering on the manuals link.
