Hello Joseph and List:

The idea of flash memory and how it effects device speeds is interesting.

I recently played with a MacBook Air that works entirely on flash memory. That machine worked very fast with email downloading and internet access.

As I am about to order an Apex, it would be excellent news to learn that the Apex might , in future KeySoft updates, be able to come close to that sort of speed.

Wishful thinking?

Hi,
Storage does not matter here. Well, it sort of matters in the
long run, but
for email, it does not. Explaining storage device speed and how
flash
devices work is something that requires another thread to be
posted on the
list... If you really want me to write something about flash
disk speeds,
please let me know so I can do some searching.
Cheers,
Joseph

What role does 8 gig of memory play with the amount of emails one
has and the slowness issue?

Hi,
If removing trash emails and freeing databases does not help, the
next thing
to try would be deleting some unneeded email and/or files from
Flash Disk.
I'd say that this is not the matter of how fast a processor runs
- it's how
much Flash is taken by files and access time (the rule is that
the more
crowded a storage device is, it's slower to access it).
Cheers,
Joseph

Ah, I see. Thanks! You'd think, though, that with the faster
processor and all that jazz (smile) that it'd be faster. Ah
well...
Best,
Josh

Hi Josh
I have contended for quite some time that the Apex receives and
sends email considerably slower than the mPower.

Hi, all!
I have recently been noticing that keymail is running more slowly
than usual. For instance, when I try to send mail, it takes a
while longer than usual. A simple message that should usually
send in like a second can take up to four or five. Or, when
getting mail, a simple message can take a couple seconds to get.
I'm pretty sure it ran faster than this before. I've tried
renaming the database, deleting everything in it, to no avail.
Is there anything else I could try? Thanks!
Best,
Josh
