Hey Alex,
I have been considering porting some computer braille files over
from my old braille n speak to the Apex. In several of these bns
files I used a double dollar sign followed by some text in
various places to allow me to quickly find sections of interest.
Since the Humanware note takers use the computer braille dollar
sign, same as the grade 2 ed sign, as the start of a format
indicator, I wondered if placing these files on my Apex would
cause problems. Before I port them over should I use find and
replace on my bns to change the double dollar signs to some other
combination, like double percent or something similar to avoid
having KeySoft trying to interpret those dollar signs as some
kind of format indicator? Are these format indicators only used
in ksb and kst files? If so, I guess as long as I keep the files
as .txt files, it should not be a problem.
Thanks
Richard Ehrler

Yep, it looks good here. Those numbers, you will notice, come
after an
ed sign and a g. The ed sign is a symbol in keyword which
indicates
some sort of formatting indicator; ed sign p is a new line, ed
sign f
is a new page, ed sign lge is language (lg) English (e), and so
on. In
this case, you see ed sign g 0, which is an indicator for grade 0
(computer braille), then ed sign g 2, symbolizing grade 2. These
indicators do not show up in print at all, they just tell you and
the
bn that the grade has changed.
