I'm writing to you all from Turkey from a Mac tethered to an iPhone, because I couldn't get the BrailleNote to do PAN either. The load wasn't too great on my hand luggage to put in all three; it just looked that way owing to the size of the laptop case my MacBook was in, which is disproportionately large. In fact, the portable/phone combination is perfectly feasible, and the BrailleNote is getting used mainly for silent reading and games.
