Hello:

1 exercising the braille display; This is important as tiny little dirt can lodge in the display pins and eventually cause it to become less clear. To exercise on the mPower or classic and I assume on the Apex using a braille keyboard "bt" open the option menu - space with o and use the command space with i. From there just use x for exercise and the display will go through a series of dots being raised and lowered in patterns. I will usually exercise the display for 3 to 6 minutes but that is arbitrary, times I have let it go for much longer.

2 Cleaning: I work a hospital and They are frenetic hand washers even on the out patient psychiatric unit. They provide hand wipes and I use them to clean the BrailleNote. I never clean the display with the unit on. I imagine that the hand wipes the hospital are much like the ones available elsewhere; alcohol based paper tissues. The important thing for me is that there is no sticky residue.

Keep it clean out there.
