Hi,
I've noticed that for some time now, I'm not sure how long, whenever I use
Bookshare either on the PC or on my BrailleNote, there are a lot of security
dialogs. Is there a way to tell whatever device I'm using that yes, I want
to continue despite any issues with regard to certificates, et cetera?
Those dialogs are repetitious and annoying.

Hi,
I'm not sure, but I agree with you. I don't like to have to go
through those dialogs either.

Hi,
I have a question. Can you download the Hot Fix for Bookshare
directly en your BN, or does it have to be from a PC?
Thanks for any help!

Hi,
I agree with you too. I hate going through them. The biggest
reason why I hate going through them is because they're
time-consuming and they slow down my device.

The problem with doing that is that you then take away any references
made in the reply. For instance, if a responder says, "So how,
exactly, would you do that?" I have no idea what they mean if the
original message is gone. Having the reference of the original is
often helpful and sometimes quite important, plus it lets you read
through a thread you may have missed or to get clarification on a
point.
Take what you wrote for an example. Only the last sentence gives any idea
of what you're talking about. There are two solutions, neither as
anti-social as top-posting:
1. Paraphrase. Simply say what you're replying to when replying. For
instance:
In response to Bob's question about how often to feed gremlins, my advice is
thrice daily, plus special meals at full moons. You can never be too
careful.
2. Top post, as I have done. For this to work most effectively, everybody
has to do it, as just shown. You can read nested quotations, top to bottom,
and thus get the natural flow of conversation that bottom-posting does not
provide. This not only helps digesters, it also makes reading archived
messages easier. Trim everything you can that isn't relevant to your reply.
I appreciate that FleaMail (trying to mimic Microsoft's rubbish software,
which is just as bad) does not make this easy, but do your best, or not at
all. For example:
Bob writes:
So what tips do you have on the best times to feed gremlins?
My advice is thrice daily, plus special meals at full moons. You can never
bee too careful. Cheers.
And the follow-up from Jane replying to this message:
You wrote:
Bob writes:

My advice is thrice daily, plus special meals at full moons. You can
never bee too careful. Cheers.
They need more than that! If I don't feed my gremlins at least five times a
day, they go after my cats! -- Jane.
The best Mailman can do is reject or hold over-quoted postings. I doubt
very much whether HumanWare would consider it.
Cheers,
Sabahattin

Hi everyone,
I just talked to Greg Silsman at HW Tech Support and asked him
about our issues with Keychat contacts disappearing. He said
that he was reading the list this weekend and saw that thread and
that this was happening to a lot of us. He did everything he
could think of on his Apex, but couldn't reproduce the problem at
all. So, it can't be a problem with Google, since if it was, the
problem would be across the board, effecting everybody. So he's
asking all of us to let HW Tech know exactly the steps you did
when it happened, if applicable. In other words, what exactly
were you doing on Keychat when this happened, or did it just
happen? They're at about as much of a loss as we are, so if you
can figure out any reason why it might be doing it or how it
happened to you, please notify HW by calling 800-722-3393 and
hitting option 7 or emailing [email protected]. Hope you can
help HW figure this out!

Hi,
It is in fact with Google. There were reports in the past of contacts
disappearing on other GTalk clients. Also, there were words on Gmail
not being usable for some time in the past. Well, I'm thinking that HW
cannot reproduce this, as the problem has been corrected by Google by
end of the weekend.
On a related note: as for Bookshare problem, the stability will depend
on code between Benetech and HW.
Cheers,
Joseph

I, for one, don't like top quotations. Why should I have to wade through
what I know I posted to see your reply? I've asked you several times,
politely, not to do it and you do it anyway.

I think they have their place, like when the original is a list of
questions. It is also useful on programming lists and I get the
impression that a lot of sighted people prefer it, so I have gotten
used to it. I am no fan either, though.

Subject: [Braillenote] Confussion About Two Accounts On Apex
To: [email protected]

Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1; format=flowed
Hi everyone,
I have two accounts set up on the Directory of Email Accounts.
However, I've noticed something whenever I send and receive
emails from them. You see, I have my parents' email account set
up along with mine. Whenever I use their account to receive
emails, the emails that I receive don't show up on their InBox
when I sign in on Keyweb.
To make myself more clear here's what happens:
I use my parents' account on Keymail to receive emails that have
been sent to them. Then, I go on Keyweb and sign into their
account. However, it says that there are no new emails in their
InBox after I receive them in Keymail.
I've also done the opposite. I sign into their account on
Keyweb. It says that there are x new emails after I sign in.
However, when I use their account in Keymail and receive the x
number of emails, it says there's no new emails in their InBox
when I sign in again on Keyweb.
My question is, why is that? Why does it say there's no new
emails in their InBox on Keyweb after I receive them on Keymail?
Thanks.
Carlos

This is likely because the bn is set to erase the messages from the
server after downloading them. To change this, go to keymail, setup,
receive options. Space down to "delete email from server after
receiving?" and set it to no.

Hi all. I am in New Zealand, and For over a year, I've attempted to

the farthest I think the MPower can support is WPA, and that's not something
that is documented, I don't think. WEP on 801.11g is all the bn supports if
I remember correctly.
Sorry I can't be more help

Live in New Zealand too (for all our lives). The braillenote version 8.0
build 20 here in the manual says it supports wep and wpa-psk. It does not
mention in the wireless configuration (under options; connectivity; w to
turn on wireless; options; connectivity; option to create dial-up or lan;
set device to wireless Ethernet connection; scroll down). Try that sequence
and see what you can find. If your router is set to wpa2 and if the
braillenote does not support then that will explain things. Try changing
your router to wpa-psk to see if that will connect. Check your router if it
is using tkip or aes. The mpower likes tkip.

Phyl Smith
