It works! I am now following my timeline and tweeting with KeyChat. The process only requires your Jabber ID and Twitter handle; no password, the authorisation is conducted using OAuth. You are given a URL, and must access it, copying the PIN from Twitter back into KeyChat. This bit is decidedly tricky and I couldn't do it without manually copying the tokens down; if anybody knows how it can be done using copy and paste, I'd love to know.
