Hi,
Sorry for the late response.
As for Apex: not that I know of.
A little correction to Marvin's instructions: You need to do find
and replacement when the file is still txt, otherwise KeySoft
will open it as a webpage.
Cheers,
Joseph

Thanks for the information, Marvin! Is the Web browser and find
and replace stuff applicable to the Apex?

Subject: [Braillenote] Reading HTML Emails Received Through
Keymail
Hello, List. Someone told the list a few weeks ago how to read
html emails received through the email client. I must make an
important change to their instructions, which I have found makes
the page load properly into the web browser.
In order to read an html email, you must first hit enter to
read the message. You will see something like <html> at the top
of the message, or sometimes the line begins with a greater than
sign and an exclamation mark followed by some code. This
means the message is an html email, and should be acted upon as
follows:
As someone else has already said, you should push space with s
to save the document. You will get a filename that says
"wp.txt".
THIS PARAGRAPH IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR APEX USERS!!!! You don't
have access to what we mPower users call the "keysoft system
disk," but I believe you call it the "ram disk". Anyway, I
mention this because THIS is where the message is stored, so you
WILL NEED to CHANGE THE DRIVE AND FOLDER LOCATION during the
following save procedure to the flash disk's "none" folder.
Therefore, when I mention the keysoft system disk's none folder
later on, Apex users will need to go to the flash disk's none
folder. [return to instructions]
You can most easily save the email by moving to the end of the
line (space with dots 4 6). This will take you past the p in
"wp".
The selected file type is already an ASCII file, so all you
need to do is type a period, followed by the letters "htm". Say
no to the "open new document after saving?" prompt. You will be
back in the email message. Hit space with e to exit the
message, then hit backspace with lower g to trash it (you no
longer need Keymail's copy of the message).
Now that the htm file has been created (that ending on a file
will tell the bn (my abbreviation for BrailleNote) that the file
is to be used by the web browser), you must now do a very easy
find and replace operation. Using the word processor,
open the wp.htm file from the keysoft system disk's "none"
folder. At the filename prompt, hit space with x twice, and the
bn will say "type: all files". Now hit space to reach the files
list, and locate the wp.htm file you saved.
At the review options prompt, say yes. Change both options
that ask whether to use line or paragraph formatting to "line" by
hitting l. Now exit the list by using space with e.
The file is now ready for the find and replace. Hit backspace
with f, and the bn will say "search forward or back?". Choose
"forward" by hitting f. You are now at the find prompt. Hit
space with the e n sign (dots 2 6). This will produce a new
line indicator.
Hit enter. You are now at the replace prompt. Type a greater
than sign (dots 3 4 5), followed by space with an e n sign to
produce a new line.
Hit enter, and you now get asked "replace all or first?".
Select all by pressing the letter A. Very shortly, the
replacements will be made.
Now, hit space with the six-dot sign to save and exit to the
main menu. You will now be ready to read the email message using
the web browser. Here is how to open the message there:
From the main menu, select the file manager by hitting f. Then
hit d for the directory option. The bn asks you for the drive
and folder you want. Select the keysoft system disk as the drive
you want, then choose the none folder by typing in the
word "none" at the folder name prompt. You should now be in the
files list.
Hit the letter w until you get to the file "wp.htm". You
should now hit the enter key. This will load the web browser.
You should now be at the address field. The file you want to
load is already listed here, so just hit enter a second time,
and the web page will load. You should now see your previously
unreadable email message. The most common reason you will
receive messages in html code is that there are links in the
message to view a web page, for example. Now that the message is
loaded, you may activate these links by hitting enter or one of
the cursor routers that are within the linked text.
Congratulations! You can now read any html email you receive
with this same procedure. When you are done reading the message,
hit space with e to get to the address field, then again to get
back to the files list in the file manager. If you want
to delete the email, just erase the wp.htm file by pressing
backspace with c, and say yes to the confirmation prompt.
I hope this information has helped you to read your email
messages. To beginner users, this process may seem daunting at
first, but as you begin using your bn and getting used to the
ways it operates, you will become more comfortable. Venturing
out and trying something will very rarely cause a serious problem
to occur. I encourage you to remain on this list and ask for
help when needed, or, like me, to give a helpful tip or procedure
when you discover one. That's exactly what this mailing
list was meant for.
P S for Joseph Lee and the BN Users site team. I will retain a
copy of this message should you wish to place it in the Articles
section. If you'd like, I would also be willing to write a
version of this article for more advanced users of the bn.
I considered only doing that here, but I remembered that this
list is dedicated to helping all bn users, new and seasoned
veterans alike.
Cheers
