Hi everyone,

I have one more BARD question for all of you that spesifically has to do with the BrailleNote. By the way, I'm copying Mrs. Otwell, my Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) on this to see if she knows anything about this. I'll stop cluttering the list with all these BARD questions after this, LOL! I got another email from HumanWare today regarding authorization of my Stream to play NLS books. I've pasted the email here. The email said:

From HumanWare
Dear NLS Reader Christopher A Nusbaum
Attached to this email is an electronic file with a KXO extension. This
email contains step-by-step instructions to use this KXO file to
authorize your Victor Reader Stream player. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO OPEN THE attached file on your computer. Please read the following instructions
carefully.
Note: If you prefer to download the KXO file instead of saving the attachment. Use the following link to access the Humanware license key
download page:
 httpcclicenceddhumanwareddcom
Then activate the link to the login page, choose the stream product from the list, enter your stream serial number , and your email address. Then you will be able to download the same NLS KXO file that is attached to
this email.

Important: Please make sure the serial number in the KXO filename is the same as your Victor Reader Stream player. This KXO file will only work on the matching Stream player. If they do not correspond, please contact
[email protected]

Save the KXO file somewhere on your computer for future backup.
Then follow these steps to save the KXO file on your SD card and
activate the Stream for NLS books.
1. Turn the Stream off. Insert the SD card in the player. You can
proceed on battery power or AC.
 2. Connect the Stream to the computer using the long USB cable
provided.
3. After proper connection, turn the player ON. You must hear: "Player Connected". Alternatively, if you have an SD card reader on
your computer, you can insert the SD card in to install the key.
 4. Wait for Windows to recognize your Stream player. It will
automatically appear as a removable disk drive on your computer system. 5. Open this drive using Windows Explorer or My Computer program on
the desktop.
6. Use your email program to save the attached KXO file of this email to the root of the SD card. Do not save the KXO file in any subfolder of your SD card. It must be saved in the root. It does not matter if there every other folders and files on the SD card. Please take note that Outlook Express does not allow you to browse to the drive letter of the SD card so you will need to save the attached file to your computer hard
drive and then copy it to the SD card drive.
 7. Close the SD card application in Windows by exiting Windows
Explorer or My Computer.
8. Use the Safely Remove Hardware option in the Windows System Tray to tell Windows you want to release the drive that contains your SD
card.
9. Power off the Stream and disconnect it from your computer. If you every using a card reader, remove the SD card from your computer and
insert it in the Stream.
10ddTurn the Stream back on. You should hear Welcome to Victor
Reader, a bling tone for the SD card detection and then "3 user keys
processed"
11ddIf you have version 3.0 of Stream, the key will be automatically erased from the SD card. If not, you must erase the KXO file from your
SD card manually.
If you prefer, the above steps may also be performed by transferring the KXO file to the root of a USB memory stick and connecting it to the
Stream using the short USB cable provided.
To confirm the key is processed, press the INFO key or 0 and Stream will
announce "3 user keys" in the "About Victor Reader" section.
You can now download NLS digital books to your computer and transfer them to Stream. All NLS books must be in the $VRDTB folder, each book in their respective subfolder, extracted. We strongly recommend you use
the HumanWare companion to transfer the books from PC to Stream.
If you have questions about the NLS BARD download, please visit the NLS
help web page at:

You can also visit the online Stream support web page for audio
tutorials, upgrade instructions and more at:

ation
If you own more than one Stream player you must log into your NLS BARD
account, find account settings and Add a new player.
We wish you pleasant reading of NLS books on your Stream!

Will this work on the BN? In other words, can I save the KXO file on my BN and then save it on my SD card for my Stream? Mrs. Otwell, do you know anything about this? Will we need to do this at school? Thanks!

Chris
