Hi folks,
Have been busy for the past few days - now I got a chance at
reading your emails. Here are some words on recent messages:
* Flash Error: Sounds like a sector or hardware error, or flash
driver got confused. In this case, if the error occurs again,
formatting Flash would be the way to go (be sure to save data).
* PK losing speech: This is a memory problem; to fix it
"temporarily," use KeyNote Gold instead of Eloquence as KNG uses
less room and less likely to cause speech loss. Also, if speech
loss happens when browsing the web, then you've run into a
problem that caused frustrations with mPower users a couple years
ago: running out of memory so fast when using KeyWeb with
Eloquence.
* Emails not sending: This is not a virus problem; first, BN
cannot get "high-level" viruses yet, and second, attachments
could not cause problems (at least in my memory). The likely
culprit (and it has been documented before) is the outgoing email
address and if there are some characters at the end of one of the
addresses.
To find out, cancel email sending, then open OutBox folder.
You'll see the email you wanted to send. Press ENTER to read
header (to, subtect) information. At either "2. send to" or
"copy to" field, you should see the email address followed by
either a string of readable characters or some kind of a control
character. If you see any of these at the end of a an email
address, press BACKSPACE with C to delete it, then either type it
again if you need to send the email to this address or leave it
blank if the required email address has already been filled out.
* Unicode macros: As noted before, if using a BT, when using
Unicode macros with eight dots, you need to use SPACE along with
commands that require BACKSPACE or ENTER, otherwise the Unicode
character is entered. Have to test this on QT.
* mPower and free space count on USB drives: The issue of mPower
taking a long time to report free space is a well-known one. I'm
thinking of slowness of USB controller on mPower and it is doing
something within hardware to get the report on free space. Apex
fixed this, but a problem of not being able to use USB hard disks
still remains.
Cheers,
Joseph
