Hi,
An Apex user running KeySoft 9.2 just brought up a very critical issue (at least I think) in regards to file download procedure under KeyWeb. Previously, the user was able to download from sites such as Blind Mice Mart's Movie Vault or Online Converter page (a site hosting a number of online file converters) without difficulty. However, under 9.2, these two sites fails to download the file - either not presenting the download prompt (Movie Vault) or KeyWeb says "failsh to download" (Online Converter).

After testing the above sites and other sites for comparison such as download link for KeySoft 9.2 and programs posted on BrailleNote Users site, I came to the conclusion that it might be a problem with the way downloads are initiated under KeySoft 9.2. Under 9.1, thanks to a dedicated download engine, KeyWeb would download the file from a site without difficulty but with download percentage missing. Under 9.2, download percentage is back (for some cases) and by doing so introduces some underlying ways of checking file size and transfer speeds from web server - and this query part or something to do with file download initiation could cause download failures.

To test the scenario, let us assume that we want to convert a text file to an HTML document using Online Converter:
1. Have a document in txt or doc handy.
2. On KeyWeb running KeySoft 9.2, go to www.online-convert.com.
3. Select Document Converter, then at the page that follows, select "convert to HTML" link. 4. Then at the HTML converter page, click on browse button; KeySoft prompts for folder and file. Select the file you have prepared for conversion and press ENTER. 5. Back on the converter site, go to Convert button and click it. KeySoft should then load the resulting page and will present file download prompt. 6. When the file download prompt is displayed, select the location for saving the "converted" file, then at the filename prompt, type whatever name you wish to give this file then press ENTER. Then KeyWeb under KeySoft 9.2 should say, "failed to download (filename)" where "filename" is the converted file. Under 9.1, it would have said, "download of file (filename) complete". This failure message, I think lies with download query/initiation procedure under 9.2, as 9.2 checks file size and transfer rate from the server.

I and others hope that this issue would be fixed soon. Thanks for your considerations.
Sincerely,
Joseph Lee
