Hi Matt and others:
Just tested your scenario on my computer. I can confirm Matt's
note on file synchronization - WMDC says file synchronization is
active but there's no activity when syncing happens since
"synchronized files" does not get created under Flash Disk when
syncing files is in progress. Could be related to security thing
introduced in 9.1.
As for KeySync, I'm using a 32-bit version of WMDC 6.1 on my
computer. I assume that 64-bit version should work. Let's try
uninstalling KeySync, Windows Mobile Device Center, reinstall
WMDC, establish a partnership first before installing KeySync.
And when configuring a partnership, be sure to NOT select
contacts and calendar, as it could interfere with KeySync as it
attempts to access planner and address list; but check files to
be sure. Then follow the usual sync instructions, and when asked
to merge or replace, select merge.
After partnership has been estalished and when file sync has been
checked, you should see "documents on (partnership)" folder on My
Documents, indicating that the initial steps on file
synchronization has been established from your computer's end.
And this is when the process stops - ideally, it should create
"synchronized files" folder on your Apex's Flash, but it does not
happen - even if you put a document on your computer's folder and
tell WMDC to sync it.
Now to KeySync: After the partnership has been established,
install KeySync (answer yes when UAC prompt appears). Then allow
Windows Firewall to enable KeySync server to access mobile
devices. After Sync has been installed, while WMDC session is
active, from Main Menu, go to
Utilities/Synchronization/Synchronize Now. Then a message will
come up, saying that you need to confirm from your computer to
allow synchronization to occur, with your computer opening a
dialog. Click OK on your computer and synchronization will
continue with KeySoft (and KeySync server) reporting any changes
between BN and PC.
This is the ideal scenario. If you still get .net error, try
using 32-bit version of WMDC to see if it fixes this.
A suggestion for technical author: I think the KeySync
installation and file syyc portion of Connectivity chapter might
need updating to take to account those who are using Windows
Vista or 7 in regards to WMDC and steps for establishing a
partnership using this combination. Thanks.
I'll indeed alert Support about this in a moment. Hope this
helps.
Cheers,
Joseph
