Hi folks, mostly movie lovers who use blind Mice Movie Vault: Just tested mayson's file download scenario with 9.2 and 9.1 and with both scripting enabled and disabled (thanks to Mayson's suggestion). (Scripting is a feature where one can have enhanced web browsing experience by using small applets.) It appears that the issue is what I and others hypothesized: file download initiation procedure. Here's the breakdown of each of the different KeySoft and scripting functionality combinations and their results on downloading from Movie Vault: * KeySoft 9.1 and scripting enabled: download file prompt does not appear at all. * KeySoft 9.1 and scripting disabled: File prompt appears and the movie was downloaded successfully. * KeySoft 9.2 and scripting enabled: File download prompt does not appear at all. * KeySoft 9.2 and scripting disabled: File download prompt appears but movie does not download, giving failure message. Based on the data above, I can safely conclude that the underlying issue at hand is handling of file downloads by KeyWeb; under 9.1, file download engine would accept whatever file the user would download; now under 9.2, keyWeb would check file details FIRST BEFORE download initiation starts (and I say initiation, because it is used to show you percentages and size of file opened so far). And, at this stage, I think it wouldn't be wise to conclude that its a small problem that can be fixed by code rewrite. First, out of sites I've tested so far, this happens in less than 1 or 2%; even then, these small number of sites could be ones where many users would download files using their Apex. Second, website code may change without notice, thus opening the door to repetition of this issue, particularly if sites use dynamically generated content and if it was submitted as a result of a form. Third, there is a coroelation between successful download and static availibility of file details that KeyWeb queries from the host server; in other words, if the file was generated dynamically (in case of Online Convert site) or the file download was initiated due to filling out some things, then there would be more likelyhood of downloads not working as expected simply because keyWeb can't get info that it needs to show you status messages during file download. Hope this helps. Again sorry for hard language... Cheers, Joseph
