There's a bug in the apex driver, which Apple knows about but has not
yet fixed, that prevents backspace or enter from working normally.
Instead, use space-d to delete by character (or delete text you have
selected), and space-e to press enter. Remember that you need to hit
the passthrough command, enter-4-5-6, so keysoft does not interpret
space-e as an exit command. You don't need to do this with space-d,
only space-e and other keysoft commands (space-o, space-h, and so on).
