+++ From the Editor:
The Blind Post classified News is growing!
I want to thank all of you for forwarding the news and telling others
about The Blind Post. We have 903 subscribers, as of today, and over a
thousand visitors to the website, since the October edition.
I have also been doing a little advertising, which is bringing your ads
and announcements to many more readers, and increasing the amount of
postings to the website and newsletter.
This month’s edition has the most For Sale ads than any other edition so
far.
Please continue sharing The Blind Post classified News with all you know,
and tell them it is free to subscribe!
There are two winners for Food Lady’s Scentsy drawing, and the winners are
(drum roll)
Marti Blough and Tracy Duffy. I will be sending your free Scentsy gifts on
Monday.
You can learn more about submitting ads and announcements, along with
their prices, towards the end of this newsletter.
Be sure to read the Announcement section for some important surveys.
My goal has been to email this newsletter on the 5th of each month.
Unfortunately, I was not able to do that this month. I like to proofread
all content several times before I feel it is ready to be emailed. From
now on, The Blind Post Classified News will be sent out around the 5th to
the 7th of each month. This will give me plenty of time to double check
everything, and post it online, prior to sending out to all subscribers.
Thank you for making The Blind Post a great place to share and sell!

SERMONS ON THE PHONE MINISTRY 773-572-6206.
Are you interested in hearing a man share part of his taped journal as an
astronaut on the Challenger during a 1984 mission? It is from public
radio and is very fascinating. Forty-five minutes long. I have a special
features option on Sermons on the Phone where this appears. It is on
option 7. There are interesting archives of the Special Features section
too, and when you call Sermons on the Phone I will tell you how to use all
the features of this system so you can make the most of it. My goal is to
change three options each week. There are nine options altogether. I
will tell you what I have for this week, and, if you are reading this
after the week has passed, all you have to do is hit the pound key when
you come to the option and you will immediately go to the previous week's
option. The archives go back ten levels.
Option 1 has the first seven chapters of the Gospel of John read by Max
McLean.
Option 2 has a sermon by Pastor Jeffery Fugate called God's Greatest
Attribute.
Option 3 is the tenth part in a series of Archeology of the New Testament
from the Liberty Bible Institute.
Option 4 is J. Vernon McGee teaching Genesis chapters 28 and 29.
Option 5 is two chapters of the book An Affair of the Mind by Laurie Hall.
Her husband was addicted to pornography, and this book shows how his
addiction affected him as well as her, and how she deals with the
ramifications to her own life.
Option 6 is a sermon by Lester Rolloff called A Man Without a Reputation.
Option 7 is the special features section. Explore the archives of this
one.
You will be very interested.
Option 8 has two sermons on it by Pastor Fugate: The Responsibility of
Restoration and The Bitter Waters.
Option 9 is Chuck Missler teaching Chapter 19 of the book of Revelation,
about when the Lord returns back to earth.
The archives in all of these options have many interesting things on them.
Right now the entire book of The Case for Christ is on Option 1, but the
one put up the earliest is lost when I make a new change. I pray that
this service will be a real blessing to you. Please share it with others
too.
Many people have unlimited long distance and can listen on their cell
phones on the way to work, or can call at night when they need a word of
encouragement or want instruction. Many, many good things on here.
Sermons on the Phone's number is: 773-572-6206. Please pray for this
ministry and share with others.
Thank you,
Linda Stewart

Bob Rathbun is currently a teacher from the Hadley School for the Blind
who is offering a free internet Bible study. His note follows:
“Each week I teach the Bible verse by verse. We began with Genesis 1:1.
50 minutes of teaching is followed by 10 minutes of questions and
observations. This is taught with the belief that the Bible is the word of
God and therefore the final authority. Since God has spoken in the Bible,
we had best know what it says that we might understand the things God has
revealed to us.
This teaching takes place on the New Visions Network. To be able to
attend these weekly studies, you will need to be registered at the NVN.
To do so, go to:
http://www.new-visions-network.org/
And follow the steps for registration. Such registration takes a day or
two for approval, so don't wait too long before you register. It is a
free service.
The weekly studies are held at the
"Bible Study Corner",
So you will go to the New Visions Network, find the Bible Study Corner and
enter. The times of these studies are 4 and 8 p.m. eastern time. The
content of these two studies is basically the same. It just provides
those who work during the day an opportunity to share in this study.
These studies are also being archived for your convenience and reference.
To hear an archived study, enter the Bible study corner and press f6 at
the top of your computer. Then follow the links to the desired study.
For any of you who do not know, I have been a pastor for 47 years, and
have thoroughly enjoyed teaching God's word during this time. Now I have
the opportunity to teach God's word via the internet, and I do so with
great anticipation and delight. And you are invited to attend. If you
should want to make a copy of the Bible study, you are welcome to do so.
Point of clarification: These Tuesday Bible studies do not relate to
Hadley courses, though they are bound to help in those courses. There are
no credits given for these Bible study sessions, but if you have a hunger
to know and understand the word of God, you will find these studies very
satisfying. Each study lasts one hour: 4-5, and 8-9.
See you, then, at the next Tuesday study, at 4:00 or 8:00 p.m. eastern
time, or perhaps at both.
Your friend,
Bob Rathbun“

+++ Tips & Tidbits from the Food Lady
It’s the season for Holiday cooking and baking!
It seems there is never enough time to get it all done, but maybe there
are some short cuts that might prove to be a big help.
Preparing anything ahead that can be either frozen, refrigerated or kept
in air tight containers, can assist in freeing up some time the day of
your dinner or event.
There is a book available on the NLS BARD site that you can either
download or check out through your local Talking Book library.
The Best of Cooking with Three Ingredients
Wornall, Ruthie. Read by Carol Dines. Reading time 8 hours 25 minutes.
Cooking
Recipes range from appetizers and beverages to soups, salads, vegetables,
main dishes, breads, and desserts--each based on three economical
ingredients and a short preparation time, although cooking and baking
times vary. Includes holiday and special-occasion menus. 2002.
There are a lot of great ideas for appetizers, desserts, and meals. Some
of the ingredients listed are not the healthiest, but I have found I can
substitute them for healthier versions.
Here are some examples:
Artichoke Dip:
One 14 ounce can or jar of artichoke hearts, drained and chopped.
One cup grated parmesan cheese. I prefer the fresher versions in the tubs
in the deli.
One cup mayonnaise. You can choose a healthier version like the olive oil
kind or fat free. There are even eggless versions made from tofu.
Combine all ingredients and mix well.
Pour into a greased baking dish. You can use whatever you like such as a
vegetable oil spray or olive oil, or even butter.
Bake at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes.
Serve with fresh vegetables, chips, or crackers.
Ooh yum!
Pecan Bites:
One 8 ounce package cream cheese softened.
¼ pound blue cheese
80 pecan halves
Several hours before serving, Mix cream cheese and blue cheese in mixer.
Beat until creamy.
Cover and refrigerate. (for a while I am assuming. The book did not say)
Shape into 40 balls, and press a pecan half on each side of ball.
Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Hungry would like these!
Fruit Cocktail Cake:
My Grandma used to make a version of this.
One box yellow cake mix, your choice.
3 eggs
One 15 ounce fruit cocktail not drained
Pour all ingredients into a large bowl and mix well.
Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes.
Have fun cooking and enjoy sharing with family and friends!!!

+++Blind Man Walking
By Joshua Loya
I recently had a brief discussion via Twitter with someone regarding how
few Christians have actually read their Bible from cover to cover even
once. I was forced to admit that I had been a Christian for over ten years
before I read the Bible from start to finish. I had read quite a lot of
it, but I had skipped over very large portions. Whether you are rather
conservative theologically speaking, or take a more liberal perspective
with regard to such matters, most people would agree that the Bible is an
important book for all Christians to read at least once. For those of you
who are not Christians, please continue reading. This month’s article is
not only about Christianity and the Bible. It also has application for
those who do not share my faith.
One of the biggest difficulties people have with reading the Bible is its
sheer magnitude. There are over 1,000 chapters, and the more widely known
translations can be difficult for many people to read. Some passages are
familiar and read more like a story, while others are challenging because
they involve very detailed information, often given in a dry and
repetitive style. My suggestion, given very briefly, is to start with what
you can do, and move on from there.
Here is a more detailed example of what I mean. Start with the Gospel of
Luke. It is very straightforward, and is easy to follow, and it will give
you a clearer understanding of Jesus and His ministry while He was here on
Earth. Then, I would recommend moving on to Acts, as it is written by the
same author as the Gospel of Luke, and tells what happened to Christian
disciples in the 1st century, almost exactly where the Gospel of Luke
ended. I would then read from the beginning of the New Testament, stopping
before I got to the Book of Revelation. Revelation is a challenging book,
even for Christian theologians with Ph.Ds. Don’t stress yourself. Then,
you can read the Bible from beginning to end, including Revelation.
My advice for people taking their first class at our martial arts school
is not very different. If you can remember one thing from your first
class, then it was a success. You’re not expected to know everything; you’re
a white belt. I have 3 black belts, and even I don’t know everything.
Soke, our instructor, is an 8th degree black belt, and even he, being the
master and creator of our system, doesn’t know all there is to know about
martial arts. We both started with one thing, and added to it each time we
trained. If you keep going, and keep learning, you will also get your
black belt, just like we did.
This principle of starting small and moving forward and what ever rate you
can is applicable to nearly everything. Whether you’re talking about
weightlifting, learning braille, playing an instrument, getting your
degree, writing a book, running a marathon, or cooking a Thanksgiving
dinner, you start with what you can do, and you build from there. The
important thing is to keep going. Will you have days you want to give up?
It’s possible. Will you have challenges along the way? Certainly. The
important thing is to keep going. If you give up, you’re going to be
stuck. Even if you are moving at a snail’s pace, at least you are moving
forward. And, even if you have given up, you can always change your mind.

+++ Posting an Ad
Posting ads & announcements to The blind Post
Ads and announcements can now be posted anytime, for 30 days, on
theblindpost.com!
They will also be posted in the following month’s newsletter, emailed to
all current subscribers around the 5th to the 7th of that month.
Your first one, of 50 words or less is free, and each additional ad or
announcement, submitted within the same 30 days, is $5.
Phone numbers, Email addresses, and website addresses count as one word
each.
Ads over 50 words and less than 125, are $5.00.
Ads or announcements that are 125 words to 225 words are $10.00.
Over 225 to 300 words are $15, and 300 to 450 are $20.
If you would like to have a long-term ad posted on the website and
mentioned in the monthly newsletter, contact me to arrange a sponsorship
price.
Mailto:[email protected]
The same day you send me your ad or announcement, upon approval, I will
post it to the website.
The 30 days for your ad or announcement starts from the day it is posted
to the website.
If you have a picture of an item you are selling, attach it to an Email
with your ad and I will post that along with your ad.
If you are attaching a picture to your first free ad, this would change
the price from free to $5.
An additional $2.50 would be added to the price of longer ads or
announcements, for a picture to be included.
All links of interest that you send me are posted for free upon approval.
All ads: for sale, wanted, services, business
opportunities, announcements, links of interest, and any other submissions
will be posted as soon after they are submitted, via E-mail, and approved
by the editor.
I will contact you with any questions about your ad, if it does not meet
any of the requirements or if I need to change anything, prior to posting
it on the site.
Please Email me at:
Mailto:[email protected]
With your post exactly how you would like it
printed under a phrase saying Ad starts here:
Then, go to PayPal
http://www.paypal.com
And under the link “Send money” you can pay for the ad using:
[email protected]
And also put in the message field a short description of the ad.
This is so there is no mistake on which payment goes with which ad.
• You can now go to the website and purchase your ads using PayPal, a
credit card, or a debit card!
You do not need a Paypal account to use your debit card or credit card on
the website.
