Hi Jessica,

Wow! Boatload is right! :) OK, here are some answers to some of your questions.

* Connecting mPower with WPA2 Wifi Network: No, unfortunately you can't connect an mPower with WPA2 networks. This wasn't even an option for us Apex users until KeySoft 9.1 was released, so I would imagine that this would not be possible on the mPower. However, you guys have to use a wireless ethernet card to even access wifi on the mPower, so would it really matter what type of encryption was used on the network?

* Online Converter and Youtube Videos on the mPower: Has anyone tested Online Converter on the mPower, and, if so, does it even work? The only things I have seen and heard about Online Converter come from Apex users. I use Online Converter directly on my Apex, and it works fine, as long as I pass through that annoying security alert dialog. So, I don't know if Humanware has added virtual memory to the Apex that wasn't available on the mPower, but my guess would be that it is something with Skweezer. My guess is this: Skweezer is condensing the Online Converter site to be so small that it doesn't have enough capacity to convert the entire Youtube video and give you the converted file to download. This is only a guess, though. I would suggest listening to Mayson C's Podcast on Online Converter, which you can find on braillenoteusers.info/media. In this podcast, he focuses spesifically on converting Youtube videos using the site. Although he is using an Apex, I'd listen to it just to make sure you're doing the same steps. If you are, my guess is that it's either (1) Skweezer is making the site too small to convert the entire video or (2) there is a problem with your BN's download of the file, which makes it only download part of the file. Also, you can try putting the file on an external device, such as an SD card or a thumb drive, and see if it downloads the whole file then. I've tried to download MP3 files onto my flash disk (the BN's internal disk, I think you have a flash disk and a Keysoft system disk,) and the entire file didn't download. But I told it to download the MP3 onto my thumb drive at the download prompt (I did this by first inserting the thumb drive in my BN's USB port, then at the "download file into which folder" prompt, I hit backspace to the "drive" prompt and selected the hard disk,) and it worked. It was probably because I had a lot of stuff on my flash disk already, and the MP3 file was a large one. Please keep us posted on how these suggestions and OnlineConverter in general work for you!

* Playtime Tetris Game for BN: Another lister, Marvin Vasquez, has created a user guide for the Tetris game for the BN. I have the file, and will send it to you off list.

* Internet Radio Sites that Work with the BN: I love Internet radio!!! Here are a few sites that work with the BN. A great site that has all kinds of radio stations from many countries throughout the world and works on the BN is tuned.mobi. This site allows you to choose the country you want to listen to a station in, then pick from a wide variety of regular radio stations playing all kinds of music that you can listen to right on your BN. One thing to keep in mind with tuned.mobi stations: the stations that have AAC listed after them (which means the stream of that station is in AAC format) will unfortunately not work on the BN. But all the radio stations that have MP3 or WMP3 listed after them will work on the BN. Another cool Internet radio station is ACB Radio, found at www.acbradio.org. This is an Internet radio station run by the American Council of the Blind, one of the leading organizations and advocacy groups of and for blind people in the US. They have 5 channels on their network: Mainstream, which is talk radio for the blind community, Café, which is a commercial-free wide variety of music all performed by blind musicians, Treasure Trove, which has all kinds of old-time radio shows, Interactive, which has live and interactive Internet radio shows, and World, which is like Mainstream but is content for the blind in foreign languages. I especially like Café and Interactive; they're really cool! The ACB Radio stream (for all channels) that will work on the BN is the WinAmp stream, as it is in PLS format, which the BN supports. When you click on a channel from the home page of acbradio.org, Café for example, you'll see links to click on to listen to different types of stream. Click the WinAmp link, and it will load on your BN. Also, if you find any Internet radio station that has a link to listen using WinAmp, that's the stream that will work on your BN.

Hope all this helps!

Chris

If a blind person has the proper training and opportunity, blindness can be reduced to a mere physical nuisance." -- Kenneth Jernigan (President, National Federation of the Blind, 1968-1986

Subject: [Braillenote] a boatload of questions about bn

Hello all. I have a few questions that I hope to get help with. I
have a bn empower with keysoft 8.0 and I would like to connect it
to a wpa2 enterprise network. I would like to know if this can
even be done because the only settings are for wep and wpapsk.
Also I have a 4 gb Ipod shuffle that I would like to hook up to
the bn and have it come up as a hard disk so I can put music on
it. When I hook it up nothing happens even after all 4 types of
resets. Another thing is that I have some old wav sound files
that I would like to use as system sounds on the bn but I need a
way to change the time stamp on them so that windows will use
them over the factory installed sounds. Also when I set
appointments in keyplan the alarm does not always beep even when
I have set it to beep. I am also trying to use online-convert.com
to convert youtube videos in to mp3s but I only get about 2
seconds of the mp3 file downloaded. I have tried converting lots
of different videos with the same result. I have also tried
clearing the cookies, deleting the temporary internet files and a
reset with 4-5-6 held down. Nothing works. I can't get to
online-convert.com directly from the bn because that site takes
up too much virtual memory and the bn crashes and the only way I
can uncrash it is to reset it. Therefor I use online-convert
through skweezer.com and I am thinking that maybe something in
skweezer is not letting the file convert properly. I would like
to know about any sites I could try besides online-convert.com or
about any sites that are like skweezer that I could try using
online-convert.com through. For those of you who don't know,
online-convert.com is a site where you can go to have just about
any file from your computer or from the internet converted in to
just about any format you want it in and skweezer.com is a site
that makes other sites smaller and take up less memory making it
easier for mobil devices and other virtual memory lacking devices
like bns to use. This is not as important, but does any one know
how to use that playtime tetris thing. How do you get a whole
tetris board on one line of braille display? One more thing, any
one know of any internet radio sites that work with the bn and
play knew country, pop, wrap and heavy mettle music.
