Hi,

Happy New Year to you all; hope you have wonderful life in 2012.
Continuing from last Friday's report on test between TeamTalk and Conversation Station users, I'd like to present a short survey on which chat service to use and what method should we usin for conducting future BrailleNote Chat series. To fill out the survey, please answer each question below and give your thoughts on each choice. To submit it, please send an email to [email protected] with your responses:

1. Chat service: A number of people said TeamTalk would be a good chat service to use; however, some say that there are people who'd like to join the chat but doesn't own a computer apart from BrailleNote family of products. Thus, a proposal for using a phone chat service in conjunction with TeamTalk has been proposed, with tests conducted on Friday with mixed results. Should we: use both TeamTalk and Conversation Station, TeamTalk only, Conversation Station only or other audio chat services such as Skype? When answering, consider the following conditions: participation by international users, recording facilities for archival purposes, considerations for those who might not have a computer and overall logistics.

2. Chat conduct methods: Some say that a live, realtime chat (where people can add their thoughts while others are speaking, as using TeamTalk) adds more connected atmosphere, while others suggest that people take turns asking and answering via audio (in case of Talking Communities). Should we have: realtime chats such as via Skype or TeamTalk or controlled chats (where one person at a time would speak using a dedicated audio key) such as Talking Communities?

3. Dedicated group just for BrailleNote Chats: at one point during last week's test, a participant suggested creating a dedicated user group just for BrailleNote chats. Some say it could be useful for organizing chats by other users, while others noted that it could add to confusion and it "defeats" the overall purpose of audio chat series. Should we: create a separate user group for things just related to BrailleNote Chats? If so, what should its name be, its list topics and other issues.

And any additional comments you may have. I and other test participants would be grateful if the users on this forum posts their thoughts on these matters. Your comments will be used as guidelines for improving future BrailleNote Chats. Looking forward to your responses. Thanks for your considerations.
Sincerely,
Joseph
