On an Apex?

Chris

Hi,
Hmmm, I see. If Apex users gives us negative reports, then I'd
conclude that there might not be a MIDI codec included with Apex.
Cheers,
Joseph

Sincerely,
John

but cannotplay them

Hi folks,
The following note may seem interesting to some of you
(especially musicians):

Intro: MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) allows a
computer to play sounds based on machine rules produced by some
sequencer. This means that one can record some performance on an
electronic instrument and save it in machine form (not wave
format).
Apparently a lister wrote to me in private that BrailleNote can
play MIDI files (usual extensions being either midi or mid). He
says he found a mid file that plays on the BrailleNote and asked
if I can test it. Here's the result:
* BrailleNote does list mid files as a media file.
* The information on this mid file does not say that its a
machine audio file - it simply says "mid" when the file info was
obtained.
* When attempting to play this mid (and other mid's that I have),
it gave me the following error: "cannot open (path). `erify that
the path exists."
To test this feature, click the following link to download a mid
piece:
http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080702202315/uncyclopedia
/images/f/f9/Pp13.mid
You might want to copy this URL using block commands, as it spans
two lines. Download it to your BrailleNote, then navigate to the
folder where the mid has been saved and press ENTER on the mid
file - you should get the error message, or the mid will start
playing (depending on the model, I presume; when you do hear it,
I'm sure you'll recognize the tune).
Cheers,
Joseph P.S. If you have a computer, try downloading the mid to
the computer first, listen to it and transfer it to the BN to see
if you can listen to the file on the BN.
