Where is the problem?
Yes gMail has imap support, but the apex can't handle this. You will
have to use pop3 on the apex. In practical terms, imap lets you make
changes (move mail, read it, delete it, whatever) on any imap-enabled
device, such as an iPhone or a desktop mail client. These changes are
synced, so if you move ten messages to the trash on your iPhone, the
imap protocol means that the gMail site will show the ten messages as
trashed, as will your Outlook program on Windows and the Mail program
on your Macbook. Similarly, making changeds in any of those clients
will change all the other ones. It is an ideal solution for most
users... but, surprisingly, the bn has zero imap support.

What the bn does have is pop3 support. Pop is a basic mail retrieval
method. The apex gets the messages from the server, and that's it. If
you set it to leave messages on the server after receving, other mail
clients will see the messages you already read on the bn. If, however,
you set it to delete messages after receiving, they disappear to all
other clients and only exist on the bn. So, if the bn crashes or
keymail corrupts its own database, as it often does, you lose the only
copy of all your messages. On the flip side, though, leaving them on
the server all the time ensures they are always on the gMail site but
means that you may get duplicate messages a lot.

The best thing I have found to do is to use the gmail site on the apex
to manage mail, and use imap-capable mail clients, like the Mail app
on my iPod, when I don't want to use the site. If keymail supported
imap we wouldn't have this problem, but hw has failed to introduce
this feature for many years, plus let other keymail bugs stand, so I
don't think we will see it any time soon. Also, there is a problem
with gmail, so the "delete after receiving" setting is not honored. I
believe gmail will leave your messages on the server no matter what.
This may have been fixed by now, I'm not sure.
